Antanėlis, the musician of the old bridge

Address: On the old bridge near the Church of St. John the Baptist of Pasvalys (Vytauto Didžiojo a. 5, Pasvalys).

Antanėlis is a strange musician of the Lēvuo river bridge, a reborn legend, who touched the hearts of passers-by with the sound of his violin during the interwar period.

Interactive sculpture in Pasvalys is not only form, but content as well. Its content was created by locals – actress Olita Dautartaitė, TV and radio presenter Jonas Nainys, and poet Vladas Braziūnas.

Antanėlis speaks with the texts recorded by these personalities. Touching his right hand, Jonas tells about the most beautiful places in Pasvalys. Olita, who “settled” in the left hand, retells you the legend of Antanelis. And when you put your hand to the button, you can hear the voice of the poet Vladas Braziūnas. He reads his poem about the old Lėvuo bridge in the dialect of Pasvalys. Rima Tamo (Tamošiūnaitė), a musician from Pasvalya, participated in the creative process as well. As soon as you step on the wooden part of the old bridge, you can hear violin melodies played by a musician. The creation of Antanelis’ sculpture was entrusted to a young artist from Birštonas – sculptor Martynas Gauba. Gluk Media took care of Antanelis’ interactivity.

The sculpture is a gift from Pasvalys Regional Museum on the occasion of the museum’s 20th anniversary.
