Acquaint yourself with the most important rural businesses: agriculture (cultivation of crop and flax), animal husbandry, and beekeeping. Check out the miller’s craft – real stone millstones, a sheaf of linen processed with ancient tools, and weaving looms.  In the cottage of Aukštaitija, where the smell of smoke still lingers, the sounds of the homestead echo from the yard. In the yard, there is an ancient carriage and a…

Partisan bunker in the Žadeikiai forest

This is a historical place in Pasvalys region. The partisans of the Pasvalys region, led by Jonas Alenčikas-Dragūnas, hid in this underground building after the battles. The actual bunker was built here in 1945, destroyed during the battle, and rebuilt for the first time in 1997. Over time, the wooden logs cracked, the hatches collapsed, the bunks and the cross erected nearby in memory of the partisans rotted. In 2019 on the initiative of the Pasvalys Regional Museum, after receiving financial support from the Lithuanian Council for Culture and the Pasvalys District Municipality, the partisan bunker in the Žadeikiai forest…

Antanėlis, the musician of the old bridge

Antanėlis is a strange musician of the Lēvuo river bridge, a reborn legend, who touched the hearts of passers-by with the sound of his violin during the interwar period. Interactive sculpture in Pasvalys is not only form, but content as well. Its content was created by locals – actress Olita Dautartaitė, TV and radio presenter Jonas Nainys, and poet Vladas Braziūnas. Antanėlis speaks with the texts recorded by these personalities. Touching his right hand, Jonas tells about the most beautiful places in Pasvalys. Olita, who “settled” in the left hand, retells you the legend of Antanelis. And when you put…
