Man of the world – Antanas Poška
Antanas Poška has said: “Only knowledge is the goal of our life.” We also strive for this goal by inviting you to remember one of the most famous Lithuanian travellers, scientist, and Esperanto speaker A. Poška.
The exhibition reflects the different but complementary personalities of A. Poška – a scientist fascinated by undiscovered truths and a traveler possessed by a sense of knowledge.
You will be able to obtain the wisdom of a scientist by reading 5 interactive books, which contain the entire life of A. Poška. The “Iž Jupiter 2” motorcycle, which still runs perfectly, will help you feel the spirit of the traveller. With it, you will repeat the 1972 trip to the North Caucasus. And where are the breathtaking mountains, personal belongings of A. Poška, postcard writing, and a secret drawer that is for adults only.
The exhibition includes interactive books rich with visual material. A video presentation, created according to the Caucasus travel route and controlled from the motorcycle itself. Sound and light solutions are unique as well.
The exposition created in the museum is like a thank you to A. Poška and a source of inspiration for all of his followers. During the Soviet era, his travels became a symbol of the desire for freedom and resistance to the way of life imposed by the occupation. Young people, students, who met the famous traveller, holding in their hands the souvenirs of his long journeys, remembered these meetings for a long time and drew strength and desire for freedom from this gray-headed man.
