The museum employees not only tell about the exhibits and demonstrate how they work, but also allow the audience to turn the millstones or the spinning wheel, sit in the weaving looms, try out an ancient camera, as well as classify fabrics or rocks.

Colors and shades

About the making of dyes in ancient times and the colors that were extracted from plants. An opening of the chest –  multi-colored fabrics, knitwear, and embroidery are displayed. Children check out colorful pottery. Various tasks, games, and coloring of drawn exhibits.

Secret lithuanian school

You will be greeted by the hostess and invited to her smoky house, where the secret teacher will be waiting. You will become the students of the secret school of the 19th century: you will read prohibitted Lithuanian books, write with goose quills on tablets, and bound notebooks. You will have to be very careful – at any moment an angry gendarme can burst in and chase everyone away. Perhaps you will be able to trick the gendarme and save the Lithuanian books and your notebooks. Or maybe the gendarme won’t come today?

How my grandmother washed her laundry

We use soap every day, but we don’t think about how it came about, how our grandparents or great-grandparents washed, and what is its composition. Lecturers “laundry ladies” will tell the story of the origin of soap, present the methods of soap production, introduce washing tools and their use. You will hear about the tools and you will wash in wooden troughs with metal and wooden grates yourself. After getting acquainted with the washing tools, we will invite you to a creative workshop, where you will make soap of custom aroma, shape, and color!

The laboratory for the curious

The Laboratory For the Curious combines history, natural sciences, and chemical experiments into one whole. During the education, students will experiment independently: they will observe various chemical reactions, explain the physical properties of objects, become familiar with concepts, and learn various historical facts. It will be possible to try out magnets of various sizes and shapes, create rain in a glass, make a volcano or even snow. Before conducting the experiments, students will be introduced to the safety rules and will wear protective clothing.

Bear hanging in the middle of the mannor

For the period of Advent. After welcoming the education participants, the host will show farm implements in the light of kerosene lamps and tell about autumn chores. After that, the hostess will invite everyone to eat, and teach them about small jobs: feather plucking, thread spinning, wool picking. About the life of bees

The children get to know the structure of the hive, examine beekeeping tools, learn about bee products. Later, they watch a video about catching a swarm and perform interesting tasks themselves. The last and most anticipated task is the tasting of bee products. For correct answers, the teams are rewarded with honeycomb eyes from which, like bees, they “build their own honeycombs”.

We will invite you to travel through the mysterious world of herbs – we will introduce you to the most useful medical herbs, how to collect them, store them, use them, and make herbal tea. You will create a linen bag decorated with folk ornaments, suitable to store herbs.

Get to know Pasvalys through the eyes of a detective

You will feel like real detectives and follow the trail of the criminal, in order to find out who dared to steal the original copy of  the Act of Independence of Lithuania of 16 February, discovered and donated to the museum of the Pasvalys region by professor Liudas Mažylis himself. The detective investigation will lead to 12 objects of interest in the city of Pasvalys, which the detectives will not only thoroughly inspect in search of clues, but also get to know their history, characteristics, and uniqueness.
